Living Space Sensor Object (Experiment #1)
Shown below is the Living Space Sensor object representing a sensor
with a touch screen and temperature option only. The pin slots are fully
exposed for the Display block:
I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I got the hang of this block since i've
had experience with existing settings in EBO. I went through each selection that
I already know about and compared against a live stat to make sure I can enable/
disable and set every feature. For every feature i'm familiar with, they worked like
i would expect, with exception for the items i'll list below. I'm going to have to punt
on the lighting/blinds aspects of it though, as that is a newer feature I haven't had
a need to use at the current time.
Issues or items to talk about:
1) As can be seen in the picture, the temperature value is in Celcius and the
conversion selection in the block itself didn't change the Present Value like
it does in other blocks.
2) The temperature units setting inside the Display block has no effect
I had to keep the setpoint high and low limits in Celcius as the Fahrenheit
selection doesn't work. I put 10C for 50F and 32.2C for 90F. The actual
sensor responded based on the Celcius values from the block and it could
change back and forth between units from the display. From the actual sensor's
point of view, everything passed to it.
3) The order of selections in the Display block causes the user a need to do a lot of
jumping around to find related components for setting up and viewing status. I
would envision something like the following to help:
a) Grouping setpt related info together
b) Grouping Heat/Cool mode info together
c) Grouping Occupancy info together
d) Grouping Fan speed info together
e) Grouping Lighting info separate from Blinds info
4) Keep in mind that activating the Custom Messages pages is located at Array
Element 4 in the Allow Information Pages selection. Took me a bit to get
that one found, in the sea of configuration listings.
5) I had to punt on these items due to having a basic sensor:
Humidity, CO2, Occupancy.
6) I also have to punt on these items:
a) Allow Blinds
b) Allow Light
c) Custom Temperature
d) Lighting Mode
e) Blind Control Mode
f) Temperature Display Mode
g) Selected Scene h) Light Level i) Bling Slat Angle j) Blind Position k) Button Function l) Allow Scene Button m) Scene Button Icon n) Scene Button Id
Well that's all I've got for now. This concludes pass #1 through the Living
Space Sensor from a read-only and settings point of view.
