I would like to configure the network connections in DCO, however i have noticed that you can only do this if you have the server and switch mounted the same way round, "switch front mount and server front mount"
you cant set the connections up if the Switch is rear mounted and server is front mounted.
Also, I am unable to connect a server to a Switch which is in a different Rack.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I know I can front mount the switches, but then that is not representing what the Data centre config truly is.
also, a Genome update would be great so that it replicates any new hardware which becomes available.

Just in case anyone sees this, I have found the resolution.
when you click on the server to connect to the switch, you need to click the arrow which changes to the rear of the rack and then click on the switch. then you can choose the port number.
I would recommend that you set up your cabled types first before carrying out the network connectivity. Have different colours for different types of cable, such as the following,
Data - Grey
iLO - Blue
Heartbeat - Red
Fibre - Orange
Once you have created your network cables and start connecting up the servers to switches, click on the properties of the cable to change the colour.
This makes it a lot easier to distinguish between different types of cables within DCO.
Also I have found that you can attach a server from a different rack in to a rack with a switch, you need to pin the racks next to each other, then drag the "Cable" across from the server to the switch.
Hope this helps.

I am trying to do the same . ie switch and server are both front mounted. The connections show on the front of the server to front of the switch which is not strictly accurate as the ports are physically on the back of the server.
I have tried flipping to the rear of the rack when doing the connections however the server and switches are greyed out.
i must be missing something???

Hi Bruce, both your server and switch are mounted the same way, I would flip the switch to the rear of the rack, then set up the network connection to the server, when you set up the connection this way, you need to click on the server, then press (Space) to go to the rear of the rack, and click on the switch then you can select which port that server is plugged in too. Once you have set up the connections, deselect the network view, this will stop the network cable from showing. if possible, can you upload a screenshot of the issue you have if the above doesnt fix it?
