Ok, well i just recently got this unit from a friend(roommate) and am trying to get it up and running. I am having a little trouble in doing so because I think he lost some of the hardware. The unit works fine and all, I found the software on the APC site and d/l it, and also the instruction manual. But I think I am missing the data cord, and I cant get the unit to "back-up" once it loses power. It appears it would be just a simple LAN cable, but I tried that and it did not work. Then I read the instructions again and it seems to have a different connection than just a simple LAN cable. Someone please help me figure out what I need and where I can find what it is that I need! Thanks in advance!

The cable is actually an RJ-45 to USB cable, which can be purchased here:
http://apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9827
For the price of this cable, you may want to just purchase a whole new UPS.
