Dear community,
I'd like to share with you the Small Hospital Design Guide. I believe this document could be a good base to get deeper into your specific needs for your projects.
Below is a brief introduction:
This guide covers IEC electrical reference architecture for hospitals. The continuity of services in the Hospital is mainly managed by
• Multiple energy sources: Electrical Utilities, Generator backup system, UPS with battery.
• Redundant energy path reduces significantly the mean time to recovery in case of outage.
This design is also necessary to implement the deep annual maintenance in the Hospital building. The utilities incomers and Generator system are design to limit by 15 s any power shutdown;could be from utilities outage or internal power network failure. The UPS assures the 0,5 s continuity of service for the operating ward including at least 1 hour of battery remaining time. The generator is recovering the total 3 hours’ endurance requested by the IEC 60364-7-710 standard for medical location.
