I have an MPC-18A device ID 200021
I wish to return the device to a default device id.
I have carried out the following.
With network cable to AS-P attached.
Warm start
Cold start
Network reset
Factory defaults
Secure erase
With network cable to AS-P not attached.
Warm start
Cold start
Network reset
Factory defaults
Secure erase
Powered down for 30 minutes
I have loaded a new database in the AS-P
Before re-attaching the MPC-X network to the AS-P I carried out another: -
Warm start
Cold start
Network reset
Factory defaults
Secure erase
Factory reset (for luck)
Powered doqn the MP-C-18A
I attached the MPC to the AS-P network, powered up the MPC.
Created a bacnet interface on the AS-P and checked device descovery only to find the MPC-X there (unhosted) but still with the same device ID.
Does anyone have any other ideas I can try?
Regards
Gary

The factory reset should work as long as you are not connected to the hosting server, which will conveniently (not so in this case) auto commission if it recognizes the serial number and thereby restore the ID.
Another post references the reset timings in an MP-X Tech Ref guide but those timings are obsolete. They are now as follows:
0-5s – Warm start
5-10s – cold Start
10-20s – network reset
20-40s – factory reset
You could try using the reset button on the controller to reset to factory condition. The MP-X Tech Ref Guide says you need to press and hold for 40 to 60 seconds to get it to reset to factory conditions. I haven't tried this myself so not 100% sure what will happen.
I don't have the software in front of me, but I do remember seeing that there is now the option to change the instance ID of BACnet controllers (thank you R&D). If I recall, you right click on the device and it is under an advance option under the controller. I can get a screen capture later if you can't find it.
I found out that they can be changed from the Mobile Commissioning Tool.
Jarrod - you are correct.
Right-click on the controller >> Device >> Advanced >> Change device ID.

Although this doesn't answer my original question, as you would have to know what the default device ID was originally.
(Q: I have an MPC-18A device ID 200021, I wish to return the device to a default device id.)
However your suggestion does allow the device ID to be changed to something different.
I did use this method to change the device ID, but I am left wondering, why a factory reset does not perform this task.
Thank you for your reply, much appriciated.

The key is disconnecting the connection to your AS before you do the factory reset. Mine reset to 4194303 - which I assume is factory default.
I noticed the the reset times on the HOA screen of my MPC did not match the documentation. Which would explained why the reset was not working on my MPV. Thanks for the update on the new reset times.
On my MP-C-18A v .90.03777 I'm seeing this:
0-5s – warm start
5-10s – cold Start
10-20s – network reset
20-30s – factory reset
