Disaggregation error in PAM with Calculated Measurements that use RAMetric()
When the Total Type is set to anything other than "Average", the resulting metric won't work at any shorter time period than the frequency of the data stream without some special handling in the calculated measurement expression.
There are two ways to change that:
Change the Total Type for the metric to 'Average'.
Edit your Calculated Measurement expression and change the RAMetric() reference to explicitly allow disaggregation by adding a directive. Either put [[DisaggregationMethod=>Constant]] or [[DisaggregationMethod=>LinearInterpolate]] in front of the RAMetric().
'Constant' will repeat the metric value unaltered at any smaller time interval.
'LinearInterpolate' will divide the number by the time fraction, so the value for each month would be divided by the number of days in that month if shown as a daily value.
When referencing metric data in a calculated expression in PAM using the RAMetric() function, there are two settings that influence how it is treated, the Frequency and Total Type.
Administration/Manage Data Streams/(Your Data Stream)/Setup Tab/Frequency
Administration/Manage Data Streams/(Your Data Stream)/Details Tab/Advanced Configurations/Base Level/Total Type
Frequency can be one of:
Base Level/Total Type can be one of:
When the Total Type is set to anything other than "Average", the resulting metric won't allow disaggregation to any shorter period than the frequency of the data stream without modifying the calculated measurement expression.
So if you have a Monthly metric and its Total Type is set to 'Sum', and you try to view that at daily resolution in a Trend card in PAM, you'll get a disaggregation error.
