On site there is a PM8000 with active alarms. Please explain why any or all of the following active alarms may be experienced:

Re: Please explain some active alarms - PM8000

Hello Swil,

In PME there are 2 types of alarms, one is a bi state alarm like a set point module, there is an event when the alarm starts and there is an event when the alarm stops. The other type of alarm only has a single event. For the alarms shown in your screenshot, PME is expecting a start and end event. If PME does not get an end event PME will think the alarm is still active.

An example of where something like this could happen is an event starts and before the event finishes, the meter is powered down. In this case it is possible for the meter to record only the start event in the meter's event log.

I will say that some alarms will persist between power downs like voltage sags.

To understand what happened to this meter, it may be helpful to see the the meters event log. I would recommend sending this to technical support.

Re: Please explain some active alarms - PM8000

  1. Are you using the PM8000 display to view the alarms? Or using software?
  2. Can you please provide photos/screen captures showing this (I suspect you made some typos above and I'd like to see the context of this)?
  3. Are these active or historical alarms?
  4. Do the alarm dates correspond to dates during and/or prior to meter commissioning?
  5. Are there any corresponding events in the event log with (or around) corresponding timestamps?
  6. What is the meter firmware and framework/template version?
  7. What is your meter's alarm configuration for these alarms? Use the EDIT button in the ION Setup Assistant | Alarming tool to configure.

Re: Please explain some active alarms - PM8000

Hi Dan,

In response to the questions:

1. PME 9.0 is being used to view the alarms.

2. Some common active alarms persist on a total of 2 out of 3 PM8000 meters, on 2 independent standalone PME systems (there are a total of 3 PM8000 meters across 2 systems). Alarms downloaded from one system are attached.

3. Active alarms

4. 'Last instance' of active alarms corresponds to times prior, during and after commissioning meters.

5. No remote access, unsure.

6. PM8000 Firmware 1.4.3, Template 8000_FAC-PQ_V1.4.0.00

7. Presume default configuration exists but uncertain.

Thanks for your assistance.
