I am building a custom @ION8650 framework which has setpoints on all infractions of ISO rules and am having difficulty trying to match a specific requirement.
The provincial ISO rule states:
5(1)c: undamped resonance must not be introduced into the transmission system, including but not limited to self-excitation of induction machines, transformer ferroresonance, resonant effects of capacitor additions and the capacitance of the lines and cables of the load facility and the transmission facility to which the load facility is connected;
After some research*, I suspect the solution would be to use setpoint modules to watch K Factor values per phase (harmonic peak over harmonic nominal) and looking for a rate of increase over the duration of a day, week or month.
I'd appreciate a second (or third) pair of eyes reviewing this and providing insight or recommendations on how this might best be accomplished in the ION 8650 meter.

Following up on this request -
I had a conversation with an experienced application engineer who recommended the meter should be set to watch when the conditions of a steady-state overvoltage and a sudden rise in Voltage THD occur. He provided insight from past experiences that the frequency of resonance can be lower than 50/60Hz so an investigation of the waveform is also warranted once both those conditions exist.
If there is a better method, or if someone can verify this is the best chance to detect undamped resonance please let me know.
