Does the ION9000 or PM8000 have the ability to log synchrophasor data per IEEE c37.118?
The AESO now requires this data for load shedding contracts with it's customers. Have seen on competitor products I would consider entry-level PQ metering, but cannot find any info on whether our meters support it.
No. Neither the ION9000 nor PM8000 measure synchrophasor data per IEEE c37.118.
Can you share the exact AESO requirement you are referring to?
I don't think I have found the particular requirement you are referring to (new requirement for load shed contracts) on the AESO website... but I do see a revision in progress for Section 502.9 that describes some requirements for a PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) when applicable. Hopefully the new updates will clarify requirements using the newer editions of IEEE c37.118.1a-2014 and IEEE c37.118.2-2011. (Or the newer IEEE 60255-118-1-2018)
"Currently the AESO requires us to achieve the IEEE C37.118-2005 Class 1. Now there is also a 2011 addendum to that standard with P and M classes that would also be acceptable, and may be required at some point in the future (but are not currently)."
Checking back with ALPAC to find the AESO requirement doc for you.
