The ION8800 does not support DHCP at this time. Unfortunately, the meter will have to have the IP address changed manually. If the meter can be accessed remotely (i.e. it is available on the network) via ION Setup, the IP address can be changed in the Comm Settings. Please note though, that changing the IP address over ethernet will cause the user to lose communication VIA ION Setup and will need to reconnect using the NEW IP. I would not recommend this, should the user accidentally set an IP that cannot be connected to, but it is definitely an option that is available.
Thank you for your clear answer. Do you know if there is a project in the near future to implement DHCP? or if there is a specific reason for not do it? This would help a lot to explain the customer,
For the ION8800 as of right now I cannot say if there is a project in the future for it. There is no specific reason not to do it as far as I am aware, but cannot comment on whether it will be done in the future. I will discuss with the OM if there has been other requests for this, but ultimately, they own the product roadmap and future evolution and will decide if/when they will add this feature.
