I have a customer with an ION 8650C (8650 C0 C0 H6 E1 A0 A) meter for which its ethernet port stopped working.. This port was connected to a patch cord which on the other end was connected to a fiber optic media converter (transceiver). The transceiver was also damaged on the same event that damaged the ethernet port of the meter. The meter however, seems to be working properly as well as the serial port.
Questions:
1. Is it possible to do a field repair of the ethernet port of this meter?
2. If so, would the correct Field Repair part number be FR-8650-E1 (8650 Comm card option E1)?
3. If so, would anyone have a instruction sheet on how to replace this comm cards on the 8650 Socket type meters?? (would the ION 8600 Advanced field Retrofit Instructions manual work the same for the ION 8650 or is there an ION 8650 field retrofit instructions document?)
I appreciate your insight and orientation.
Regards,
Hi Emilio, I don't know whether or not it is the solution for your issue, but you can replace the communications card on the ION8650. You can find the instructions on the Shopping Kiosk (they're also shipped with the field retrofit kit). For the socket meter instructions, you can search for document number 7EN52-0370 (English) or 7ES52-0370 (Spanish). For the switchboard meter instructions, you can search for 7EN52-0371 or 7ES52-0371.
There used to be disassemble and assemble instruction for ION8400/8500 long ago but I'm not sure if there is one for the ION8600/8650.
Tech support should provide some assistant to the integrator who has knowledge in electronics to do field repair in some area that does not concern with accuracy this will be satisfied by customer very much.
