I'm currently testing both PM8000 series and PM5500 series meters, daisy-chaining them on an Ethernet network. I have both meters connected to the server (laptop).
My question is - will both meters be able to handle two stacks of data at the same time? The requirement is that I use Modbus AND Ethernet at the same time, as they need to be hooked up to two different monitoring systems.
Also, PM5500 strangely changes its IP address when it's disconnected and connected back. Usually, it just updates to 255.255.255.255, something I can't understand.

I connected one PM8000 as one Ethernet and one MODBUS over Ethernet Gateway meter at the same time in one PME 8 yesterday.
We've had that issue with the PM5500... it is strange! It was fixed by power cycling it for us. (I can find out the f/w vn if you like).
Not sure about your main question (only to say it "should" work). We have implemented an ION7650 talking via both Serial and Ethernet ports to separate systems at once.
That's perfect. The only question remaining is whether or not I could daisy chain it via Ethernet with PM5500 series?
I ran into a similar situation for 10+ PM8ECC card installed on PM800 meters on one site. The IP reverted back to factory default and came back after a control power reset. We ended up to upgrade to a beta FW (back then), and they hold up well.
Not sure if they are related or not, I would suggest to upgrade to latest FW. If it persists, report to tech support.
It is strange indeed. Please, do, it would be very helpful.
Also, I do realize that ION7650 can be easily implemented in that way, talking to both PMS and EAS (for example), however, it's the specs that hold me down - I need to know whether or not will both PM8000 and PM5560 support two stacks at once.

Both meters are able to handle two stacks of data at the same time. You can have Ethernet (Modbus-TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP) at the same time as Modbus serial (up to 32 devices ).
