I received a question about our good competitor's Heartbeat Technology. If there is someone from E+H or someone who has in-depth knowledge of their products, please correct me if I am incorrect, or if you have additional information to add. I haven't sold E+H since 2007!
Q. What does Schneider Electric have that competes against E+H Heartbeat technology?
A. E+H Heartbeat (From what I can tell) is a diagnostic performed by a select few E+H Radar models.
It conforms to the NE107 guideline as all of our radars do. Our transmitters are also performing auto-diagnostics and in case of a failure or an event is detected, an error message is displayed or available through the DTM or current output failsafe state.
In this article I was interviewed for I talk about the NE107 Diagnostics:
"Most modern FSR and GWR incorporate advanced diagnostics to consistently ensure things are running properly. Diagnostics consistent with NAMUR Recommendation NE 107 (Self-Monitoring and Diagnosis of Field Devices) are popular and offer consistent real-time feedback to the end user regarding maintenance required, failures or anything that’s out of specification. Taking advantage of the available diagnostic data coupled with a good installation in accordance with your vendor’s guidance is the best way to keep radar performing to its best potential."
Some additional information.
Heart Beat is marketing concept, based on 3 pillars, below the pilar´s concept and our response to it:
1) Diagnosis (based on NE107) // we also have it;
2) Verification: generation of documented verification according ISO9001 and they have a TUV certificate about // I think we can generate the documented verification via the radar´s DTM, but I haven´t fully tested it yet; I don´t know if it´s according ISO9001 and it hasn´t a third part certification;
3) Monitoring: additional measured variables that can be used to prevent failure, like monitoring radar build up and use it the value to turn on a purge // looking at our radar´s DTM (to be specific) we can configure reflection as a hart variable to do the same; we also have lots of useful error diagnoses (see the attached picture) that describe the problem and it´s solution, we can leverage the speech on that!
