Issue
Pin Pad Functionality on HID Readers
Environment
I/NET site with HID Pin Pad
Cause
Incorrect wiring in the PIN Pad
Resolution
Using the PIN Pad function in HID Card Reader applications requires that the D1 and D0 wires be terminated on terminal 3 and 5 respectively. If regular door modes are being used i.e. Secr/Unlk/Lock then this does not affect how the DPU interprets the card read.
If PIN is being used for Arm/Disarm or gain entry, then this termination needs to be addressed. If terminated improperly, a valid card read will be seen at the reader but a Deny Entry t/o will be registered in the Transaction Window of AMT and the desired function will not be accomplished.
