Hi,
When nested DDTs are displayed in an animation table the entire variable path (child and all parent tags) is displayed, which clutters the animation table with too much text (particularly with long variable names).
However, when the exact same nested DDT is displayed in the data editor only the child tag is displayed which makes for much clearer reading.
Note: See the attached photo for a comparison of the animation table and data editor.
Does anyone know if there is a setting to change the display of nested DDTs in an animation table?
As far as I know there is no setting to change that behavior. I guess the animation table displays the long names for nested structure elements because the animation table allows to enter single elements of a DDT instead of using the entire DDT. This is not possible in the data editor. There it is always the entire DDT. Anyhow, the animation table could behave better for the DDT.
It makes sense that the data editor would display the entire variable path name if a single element of the DDT is added to the animation table as this is needed to correctly identify the variable.
Having this functionality in the animation table would be a great improvement.
Adding single elements of a DDT to an animation table is already possible today. Either you simple type the element into the name field or you make use of the selection button (three dots) and select it from the list (don't forget to check "in structure" in th upper right corner of the selection window). Another option is to directly transfer it to the animation table by right mouse click on the particular signal in the data editor or in the code or use Ctrl + T as shortcut.
