The new EcoStruxure™ Micro Data Centers with Stratus ftServer combines fault tolerance, virtualization, smart uninterrupted power, and physical protection for edge environments. This ‘datacenter-in-a-box’ allows for deployment in locations where traditional data centers do not fit, such as factories or facilities running edge-computing applications.
The prevalidated Micro Data Center deliver 40% savings in field engineering timeand 20% faster time-to-deploy.
Why does the Micro Data Center matter?
Convenient, Simple and Fast Deployment - Prefabricated Data Center Modules arrive on site ready to deploy which significantly reduces installation time and cost.
Reduction in project complexity - This jointly developed solution is tested and validated to provide Stratus’ continuous availability and Schneider Electric’s uninterrupted power in an enclosed rack that is purpose-built for the rigors of an industrial operational technology (OT) environment. On request, we can also pre-load any or all of your AVEVA software in our ftServer and ship everything working out of the box.
Pre-engineered and Factory Assembled - All of the modules in the Micro Data Center are designed and built to precise specifications in a controlled factory environment and utilize DCIM software which results in improved reliability and a more predictably performing data center.
Safety Enclosure designed for harsh environments - the Micro Data Center can support IT and OT needs in applications such as mining, oil and gas, industrial factories, military operations, and regions with high heat and humidity.

The Micro Data Center comes in three sizes
Small: Stratus ftServer 2900: 5-10k data points, 2 remote clients1 Protects the server, powered by a 1.5kVA APC Smart-UPS On-line UPS with network management card in a 6U enclosure with perforated doors. Ideal for edge computing deployments in a controlled environment. Limited capacity for additional low power devices.2
Medium: Stratus ftServer 4900: 25-50k data points, 5 remote clients Powered by a 2.2kVA APC Smart-UPS On-line UPS with network management card in a single 12U IT enclosure with perforated doors. Ideal for edge computing deployments in a controlled environment with an additional 6U of rack space for switches, KVM and other IT gear.3 Environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, fluid, smoke) and security (door sensors and camera) are optional.
Large: Stratus ftServer 6900: 100k data points, 20 remote clients Powered by a 3kVA APC Smart-UPS On-line UPS with network management card in a 42U, NEMA-12 rated enclosure with filters and ventilation fans. Ideal for larger deployments where additional IT gear is required and an IT space is not available. Environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, fluid, smoke) and security (door sensors and camera) are optional.
All in all, it's a really cool solution for anyone needing a fully redundant Edge Computing platform with a built-in UPS and AVEVA software pre-loaded. It's good to go in a factory floor, a control room, command center, and a Unified Operations Center (UOC).
