When ClearSCADA is upgraded, registry class IDs are changed. If you use the ViewX shortcut in the start menu, then it doesn't load the process directly, it uses class IDs to load it.

If you create a shortcut from the start menu item (such as right click and choosing send to desktop as shortcut), then when ClearSCADA is updated, it will point to invalid class IDs.

If you wish to create a shortcut to ViewX, create a new shortcut and point to the ViewX.exe executable in the ClearSCADA installation directory. When ClearSCADA is upgraded, as long as you install the update to the same location then the shortcut will work.
