I think it's time that Geo SCADA Expert got an OPC-UA driver to allow it to retrieve data from OPC-UA servers.
Should indeed be great, we often get the question to have OPC-UA
Thank you, this is in progress.
For what it is worth:
At my new employer, there is a current tender in progress for an automation system that requires a combined SCADA for both telemetry of remote pump stations, but also for process control at treatment plants.
For the telemetry portion, DNP3 is specified, but for process plant portion they require OPC-UA.
Geo SCADA would obviously be ideal for the telemetry, when paired with SCADAPack, but Geo SCADA is not being considered for this project, because it does not support OPC-UA.
What PLCs are they using that OPC-UA is the go-to for plant floor comms?
I still haven't seen much real usage of it here in AU (beyond some horror stories of early adopters.. and comms cards that would crash on adding new points, or would send old data etc etc).
It would be nice if all major vendors supported OPC-UA as their base offering, but I suspect that will still take some time.
