I got two queries here. Couldn't find a proper solution.
1. How to start the ViewX automatically when PC is started?
2, Is there any way to backup the database to another computer ( Only for saving purposes)
Item 1 is more of a Windows OS kind of thing. There are a few ways to do this, the way that I normally do it is to just have a shortcut to the ViewX application in the Startup folder of the Public Start Menu.
Item 2 is a 'natively not recommended'.
ClearSCADA / GeoSCADA backups are only stored on volumes that are accessible to the Main server.
You could make this as a UNC drive on a remote computer, but it's not recommended, since network latency would result in extended lock times for files that ClearSCADA / GeoSCADA wants.
The best way to handle this is to perform the backup to a 'local drive' on the server(s) (which would be the Main server), and to associate a SYSTEM object with this backup, so that some batch file or similar is executed after the backup is generated. The batch file would do an XCOPY or similar of the backup file/folder to the remote computer.
You'd have to configure the permissions correctly for the SYSTEM command(s) however, it would need to run as an account that has permissions to write to the remote computer/folder.
What 'issue' would the customer have with XCOPY?
I'm definitely not suggesting you use XCOPY against the raw ClearSCADA/GeoSCADA directories, you should only use the inbuilt database backup objects for that.
But likewise, you should ensure that the destination for the inbuilt backup objects has low latency (i.e. only a local to the server filesystem).
Once you've got the backup file (zipped) / folder, then you'd copy this off to the network storage. This is where XCOPY would come in. A quick google suggests Robocopy is the better modern Microsoft supplied alternative to COPY/XCOPY.
If IT would want to use some other means, like SFTP / SCP etc, that would work via batch file called from SYSTEM object also.
