Looking at ways to interface legacy CGI MD1000/MD3311 devices into GeoSCADA. Just wanted to reach out to see if anyone is aware if someone has already written a GeoSCADA driver for the MD3 protocol, and whether that driver is commercially available?
I've never heard of the MD3 protocol, but my memory is telling me that certain versions of the MD3311 supported Modbus and/or DNP3. Both of which are readily supported under Geo SCADA Expert.
Googling tells me that 60870 was also possibly supported by the MD1000 and MD3311
If your existing network is strictly using the MD3 protocol over a serial bus (or radio) then perhaps you could utilise one such RTU as a master gateway to collect data from the others and pass it on via Modbus / DNP3 / 60870 to the SCADA?
It would otherwise be possible to either write or have written for you a driver for the MD3 protocol if you had the details.
Depending on the complexity of the protocol, and the size of the network you could potentially write this using the Simple DDK.
