We have a Eaton 9390 UPS with a PowerXpert comms card, I have the MIB and the unit in DCE and it shows the unit online and values are correct when I check the device sensors. The issue we have is that the UPS is getting alarms like when utility power is lost the alarm is showing on the UPS but does not seem to be making it to DCE. When I look at alarm history in DCE I am not seeing any alarms for the device. Any suggestions?

Hi Lester,
Alarms may not show right away even if they are built in to the DDF. Non-APC devices won't show alerts until the next poll after the alert has occurred. To test this, (assuming you can put the UPS on battery for this test) put the UPS on battery and as soon as it's on, right click the device in DCE and choose "request device scan". If it shows up in a few seconds, it is due to the polling latency. If it still does not show up, you may have to manually create this threshold in DCE.
You should also be able to tell what automatic alarms are available if you go to the Alarm Configuration tab and then click on "Device Alarm Configurations". If there are device alarms, then DCE should alert for these alarms.
Thanks,
Steve.

Hello Steve,
I have been able to validate what alarms are configured in DCE per the screen shot below. The issue I am having is when we modify the UPS for these alarms I do see them appear on the UPS side but they are not transferring to DCE. On the DCE Side even when I place the UPS on battery and do a request device scan nothing is coming across to DCE

Hi Lester,
Can you run an SNMPwalk of the device, then put it on battery, then run a second walk of the device. I'd like to verify the SNMP output is indeed changing and what values are making the change. Did you get a DDF from the DDF team for this or are you just using the on-board set of DDFs? What version of DCE are you running? If you're running 7.6 or higher, the web page under status / additional information has an SNMPwalk option. What version of the DDF are you using if you've loaded it especially for this device? Do you have other DDFs that you've loaded on the system?
