I am not able to get DCE to backup to my local hard drive via VPN to the network. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Hi Russ,
Have you tried backing up locally / same subnet as DCE? That’s your first best troubleshooting step. If the issue is with a full backup, you may also want to try a config only backup. If you have a server or laptop local to the DCE server and it works but your VPN drive does not, it could be anything from timeouts to firewalls to a host of other network related issues. I’m specifically pointing to that sort of issue solely because you are specifying VPN.
A packet capture may help in isolating issues but you’ll probably have a better chance of figuring that out with the local network people than DCE troubleshooters.
Thanks,
Steve.

Not yet. I am in another state so doing anything locally is difficult. I have turned off all firewalls and antivirus on my PC, but I cannot get the drive to mount. I found an article on how to perform a local backup but while the article made sense, it did not work in my case and I assume because I am VPN into the network instead of local.

Hi Russ,
If there's a system local to the DCE server, perhaps you could remote into that system and usethat share as a test so the mound doesn't have to go through the VPN, only the remote connection to the other server does.
