Hi All
a customer is going to migrate his infrastructure from VmWare to Microsoft Hyper-V
Dco is working without issue
Dce no.
first test:
- converted OVA To VHDX - all ok
- create a Hyper-V machine - all ok
- configurated machine with 1 network card - all ok
- started machine - all ok
- Hyper-V machine is working
second test:
- converted OVA To VHDX - all ok
- create a Hyper-V machine - all ok
- configurated machine with 2 network cards - all ok
- started machine - Hyper-V can see only 1 network card (public) but he cannot create a Private network
i know that Dce is not supported for Microsoft Hyper-V but a lot of customer are going to use this virtualization platform
anyone have tested it?
thanks a lot
and
when Dce v8 is going to release?
thanks
Hi Gianluca,
The official line is no, Hyper-V is not supported and we have yet to see enough demand to warrant support. This means that even if it did work you'd be on you're own in terms of support.
Unofficially, like you I have managed to get it to work on Hyper-V but I found that when you try to do a version upgrade and it tries to reboot a kernel panic occurs. I'm not sure why and haven't been able to get around this.
Combining the official and unofficial answers I really can't recommend using DCE on Hyper-V in a production environment.

DCE 7.8.1 will be the next version to be released, later this year, so I assume DCE8 will be next year but we neither have firm dates nor could I give them out if we did.

Thank for the info
so
i need to tell to customer something about when Dce will be supported to Ms Hyper-V
he is waiting for his migration
i know that there is not date but, 1 year for him is too long
thanks a lot
Hi Gianluca,
There is no plans to support DCE on Hyper-V. If the customer wants to move to Hyper-V then I recommend they switch to a physical DCE appliance.
