Hi Team!
We have performance issue with DCO 8.3.2 desktop client.
First issue is long room opening time. Now it takes from 5 to 10 minutes to load room (in fact it open pair of rooms because they are tied with power dependency).
We increase Java heap size already, it helps a bit (it takes up to 20 minutes to load room later), but not completely solve the problem. Is there a way to speed up our application even more?
Second issue grows from the first one.
Because it takes long time to load rooms, users are forced to keep rooms opened all the time to have a quick access.
When 10 rooms are open users experience performance problems. They should wait up to 30 seconds between operations (i.e. add device to the rack, wait sometime before you can open device properties) on UI. This is very frustrating behavior.
Could you advice some ways to improve user experience?

Hello Valentin
I have a few follow-up questions regarding your post.
* What is the size of their DCO solution and the room(s) in question? # of total racks/assets for the solution and rooms?
* What are the specifications of the customers DCO server (i.e. # cpu's, amount of memory and so on)?
* What are the specifications of the client on which the desktop client is running?
You mention you increased java heap memory. Are you referring to the min/max memory settings in the desktop client application.ini file?
Have there been any significant to the customers DCO server recently? i.e. was this server upgraded to 8.3.2 and now you have a performance problem where before they didn't?
Can you share an application.log file from one of the clients experiencing the slow responsiveness?
Perhaps also server logs from the DCO server?
Regards
Greg Sterling

Hi Greg!
Answers here in bold:
* What is the size of their DCO solution and the room(s) in question? # of total racks/assets for the solution and rooms?
There are 12 rooms with 110-120 racks per room, about 45000 assets overall and many-many network connections.
* What are the specifications of the customers DCO server (i.e. # cpu's, amount of memory and so on)?
It is 16 Gb RAM, 8 CPU Xeon Processor
Server side don't look overloaded:
CPU Usage:
Memory Usage
Load activity
* What are the specifications of the client on which the desktop client is running?
It is a workstation with Intel quad-core i3-8100 processor, 8Gb RAM running Windows 10 Pro
DCO application allocate about 25% of CPU and about 2Gb of RAM
You mention you increased java heap memory. Are you referring to the min/max memory settings in the desktop client application.ini file?
Yes, it's correct
Have there been any significant to the customers DCO server recently? i.e. was this server upgraded to 8.3.2 and now you have a performance problem where before they didn't?
We are replace "old" rPDUs with "new" ones with extended properties, which have outlets.
I suppose that roots of the issue are in growing of DCO object number due to more complex rPDU structure.
Unfortunately I can't get logs from the customer at the moment due to security restrictions.
But there are no errors in application.log or server.log while room opening.
So I will be happy if there are some tips to speed up application.

Thank you for the responses.
Seems like the memory and cpu from the dco server are ok.
Understanding there are some security/privacy concerns in place and getting log information may be difficult can we at least get the server.log file from the DCO server and a client or application log from the dco client workstation so we can see what the client is stating is going on?

I also meant to add the following.
Make sure in your desktop client you do not have the linked button checked/linked in the equipment browser, network cable browser, and power dependency panes, especially if you have that many open rooms. If the link button is selected those panes will recalculate every time you select something.
If you added a lot of network connections recently that may have in impact in the desktop client performance.
