I am installing and configuring DCIM at customer site, customer has raised following question related to functionality of DCIM.
1- Customer has installed many switches & servers in DC and want to get alert if any NIC (network card)
down. Is it possible to monitor/real time NIC card status through DCIM module?
2- Can we access and map storages & switches in ITO?
3- Customer wants to know the real time port status of any server or switches in dcim?
4- When we run ITO discovery for IBM x3850 (IPMI & SNMP) i am getting error which is attached, please help how to resolve this issue.

Your customer probably should've asked these questions before buying a DCIM tool.

Hi John (unknown.007 )
I would also like to add:
2. IT Optimize currently supports server and blade chassis discovery. As far as I know, other items like switches and possibly storage devices are on the road-map.
4. IPMI is the only protocol used by ITO which is chipset specific, that is a discovery using the server's baseboard management controller (on the motherboard). So its unaware of OS specific information and in most cases only knows very basic server information like serial number.
