I have a customer who has come back with a raft of questions regarding their Netbotz 450. I wonder if someone in Tech support could verify my responses. I apologise in advance if some of these settings are easy to tune from Advanced viewas I am not infront of a unit until I go to this customers site
1) Customer has an MTCBA-G2-U attached to send SMS texts. firmware version is 4.3 as I could not get 4.5 working at the time although in hindsight I may have had other issues masking the problem . Is it safe to advise migrating to 4.5.1. Is it tested with the MTCBA-G2-U or is 4.3 the version I must stick with ?
2) Customer observation. Log retention period varies by sensor (9 hours or 24hours max) but none meet either our desired retention period of a week or our absolute minimum retention of 72hours.
I believe I could add a USB memory stick say 16GB to increase the logging. Is this correct. System would require a re-boot to recognise the external storage. Does external storage have to meet any criteria ie disk storage uSB version ?
3) Customer observation. Logging of hourly temp / humidity is preferable to current 'every change' as it will make the log quicker and clearer for us to check on a daily basis.
What the customer is trying to say is that important messages can either drop off or are masked and wants to see for example 1 degree changes
4) Customer Observation Strange readings on some sensors such as disconnection when server room is inactive (e.g. midnight sunday etc).
Customer mentioned that the temp/humidity sensor and ethernet port has had random entries for disconnection and re-connection. Ethernet I can push to the network team to investigate port settings but I cannot explain sensor behaviour
5) Customer Observation Smoke detected on the smoke sensor although no smoke in the room.
Again cannot logically explain this as there VESDA system reports nothing. Do units do a self check periodically ?
6) Customer has one leak rope at present. I think I am correct in saying I could extend to 100ft using 5 x 20ft leak ropes. The Netbotz 450 has one leak rope port

Hi Steve,
1: The modem was introduced in an earlier version but newer revisions should not break it. I do not know to what extent this modem was tested with 4.5.1 but I would simply suggest a backup be created just in case.
2: You can use USB storage or you can use a remote share. Both will provide retention of much longer periods. There is no specific USB criteria that I am aware of. Please be aware also that if the appliance reboots (which could also happen if using a remote share and connection drops), data may be lost.
3: There is no way to change how NetBotz logs. When it sees a change it logs. You can not reconfigure this.
4: You should really work with your local tech support on this. We'd need to know the physical configuration, when the sensors experience this condition. If it's always at the same time (at night) what is happening in the environment, etc. Is it always the same sensor?
More questions depending on config etc. There's simply not enough data to provide an answer to this one. Updating to the most recent may help with this as there have been a number of fixes, some to similar issues.
5: Smoke sensors do not do a self check as far as I am aware. This could be similar to the unplugged error where the system simply senses incorrectly. Again, I would need to know physical config. How many pods, how many smoke sensors ,external power to the pods, etc. This is another one I would also suggest making sure you're up to date on fw.
6: Correct, the limit is 100 feet extension. This can be extension using cat5 cables or extension using rope leak extension.
