I have an APC Smart-UPS RT 20000 RM XL. I am seeing two events: UPS: The number of batteries decreased, and UPS: the number of extended run frames decreased. It show 8 batteries installed when it should be 12, but it's not showing any bad batteries. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

This forum is usually for DCIM software and NetBotz. FOr UPS units, you may get better assistance at:
They have specific sections for Smart-UPS.
Something I found in the documentation for the UPS / batteries
Smart-UPSTM RT External Battery Pack Stack/Rack-Mount 6U SURT192RMXLBP2 SURT192RMXLBP2J:
If that's correct, then connecting 12 batteries may be part of your issue.
Although the UPS manual:https://www.apc.com/salestools/SCON-7N2S66/SCON-7N2S66_R2_EN.pdf
So in any case, you will likely not see 12 battery packs.
What I would suggest is to just connect the first 8 and wait to see if it decreases (how long did it take when 12 were connected?)
If it shows less than 8, you may have one battery pack that's not charged and you may want to try and isolate which one it is. You can then do the same with the other 4 battery packs just to see if one or more actually has an issue.
Again, the other forum page may have more info or more accurate responses for the UPS questions.
