AP7175 & AP7155

This question was originally posted on DCIM Support by Grigorios Kousidis on 2019-05-23

Hello,

I have several number of AP7175 and AP7155. I was trying to make a virtual sensor for kWh and only one AP7175 could give me that option.

what might be wrong?

Thank you in advanced

Hi Grigorios,

I don't have a AP7155 for testing but the first thing I would suggest looking at is the device sensors in DCE. If you right click and view device sensors, are the sensor values listed in watts or KW? If they're listed in watts, you can't use them for a KW virtual sensor.

Everyone are in watts. But the problem is that they don't give me energy used option (kWh) except one AP7175!!!

I think problem is that if you use AP7175 and AP7155 you are running on old nmc hardware which had never energymeter on it. you need to make sure you are running on AP7175B and AP7155B those are running with nmc2 boards and will supply enerymeter datapounts.

Maybe this is the problem. But The strange thing is that I have 2 exact same AP7175 but only the one gives me the kWh option as you can see at the attached (.203 vs .204)

Hi can you go to device with your mouse, rightclick and show sensors? Make a screenshot of this and post it here....

The one with the many sensors gives me the kWh option despite the "unplugged" as you saw on my previous answer

The other one give only the kw option.

I see a ton of "Unplugged" sensors. That happens for a number of reasons. If all sensors are showing off line (they aren't) that's showing a no-comm.

If, like you're seeing, some sensors are off-line, the same ones all the time, that's one of 2 things.

1: The device firmware was updated and no longer has these sensors available

or

2: DCE / the appropriate DDF was updated such as what's noted in the following k-base:

http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA282386

The unplugged sensors in this case should be deleted unless you need the historical data. I do not see KWh in your screenshot but if the only available sensors report unplugged, you're not going to get any data going forward.

If the device shows a KWh sensor, you should be able to use it for a threshold. In your screenshots however, these sensors are not shown.

Please also note that KW and KWh are totally different sensors. KW is simply a measure of power where KWh is a measure of power over time.

I've got 2 large Symmetras, a 250K and a 40K. Both have KW values for load but only the 250 has a KWh sensor. Some devices simply do not have the sensor you're looking for and it can (as Ueli noted) be based on the age of the unit or the firmware it's running.

So, I will delete the unplugged sensors.

And the particular devices AP7155 & AP7175 don't have kwh sensors.

Thank you very much for your time
