The Energy Signature is a tool that delivers visualization of a building’s energy usage in correlation with outdoor temperature. Static models of the relation between energy use and the surrounding temperature can be estimated or manually mapped using the Energy Signature. Alarms can be triggered if the actual energy usage deviates from the energy values specified by budgets.
From EBO perspective, the tool, which is a graphic file with some EBO objects, monitors two trendlogs representing energy consumption of the building and outdoor temperature. It can aggregate the data in a user-defined period with different calculation methods and cluster the aggregation result in working days and holidays. Then, it automatically plots the scatter plot with temperature on X-axis with respect to energy consumption on Y-axis. Afterward, the user can estimate the model either by using the internal optimizer of the tool or manually enter the building’s model. Finally, alarms can be used to monitor the performance of the building in real-time. For detail information, you can look at the user manual.
This is an attempt to enhance the engineering efficiency of the energy signature graphic file which was introduced previously in March 2015. In that version, trendlogs were subscribed to the graphic via an EWS/server which makes it complicated to subscribe trendlogs in EBO later versions. However, in this version, the connection of trendlogs is simplified by using client API in Webstation. The user only needs to bind the target trendlogs to their corresponding Extended trendlogs, which are only used as placeholders for the graphic object. Therefore, the tool can be used only in 3.0 or later version in Webstation. Moreover, the tool should be used in an Enterprise Server (ES) or Enterprise Central (EC) since the performance can be an obstacle for big size data in AS-P.
It should be noted that since there may be a plan to make this tool a native object in EBO, currently, there is no further development planned, and it is just a temporary solution.
