Removing or deleting a SNVT programmed within a Xenta Device

Issue Removing or deleting a SNVT programmed within a Xenta Device that is no longer required in the application. By removing SNVT you increase the chance of having difficulty of getting the LonMaker Template to synchronize correctly with the modified Menta file. Understand the ramifications of deleting a SNVT and only do it when the benefits outweigh the complications. Environment TAC Vista TAC Menta NL220 or Lonmaker Cause Removing a SNVT will upset the SNVT binding order, by causing the index numbers in the XIF file to be corrupted. In this case it is not advised to delete SNVTS Changing a SNVT name or type will also cause indexing problems. The Vista object name can be changed to reflect that the SNVT is spare and not used If you have no SNVTs bound in LonMaker, the cost of deleting a SNVT is potentially having difficulty getting your LonMaker device template to synch up with the Menta file. If you have a few bindings, the downside of deleting a SNVT also includes redoing all of the bindings -- with one or two that's not a big deal. If you have 200 bindings, it can be a huge deal. Leaving a SNVT in the Menta file that isn't being used anymore just consumes one network variable input ... which can usually be dealt with easier than deleting it. So it's just weighing the pros and cons, but don't just go through without knowing what will happen. Resolution If the SNVT is no longer required in the Menta Application then carry out these steps. Disconnect the SNVT from the logic in the Menta application Allocate an area in you Menta application for unused SNVTs Move your unused SNVT into this area Label this area with the Text "UNUSED SNVTS DO NOT DELETE" Remove the public check box from the point if you do not want it visible in Vista Download the Menta application to the Xenta controller. Note: If the Xenta Application is standalone (Classic) and not in a LNS database SNVTs can be deleted without a problem

Alarms not showing up in the alarms list

Issue Alarms not showing up in the alarm list. Environment TAC Vista Workstation TAC Vista Server Cause The alarm could be disabled. The alarm might have priority 0 (info). There might be a filter in place in the alarm list. Resolution The alarm could be disabled, in workstation go to View > Disabled alarms to see the list and enable again. The alarm might have priority 0 (info). No Alarms with priority 0 is shown in the alarm list. There might be a filter in place in the alarm list, in the alarm view you are using right click and select filter to check this. A good practice is to set the "Date and Time" tab settings to reflect "Tripped " and "Last change" to show all alarms. This is done by checking the four checkboxes for "First alarm" and "Last alarm" allowing all alarms to be viewed.

Bacnet 3rd party controller will not respond to Find New Bacnet Devices (Who-Is/I-Am)

Issue Bacnet 3rd party controller will not respond to Find New Bacnet Devices (Who-Is/I-Am), so will not come online to Continuum Environment Bacnet MSTP Continuum Cause Some 3rd party bacnet devices can be setup as master or slave. If the bacnet 3rd party bacnet device is setup as a slave device, it will not respond to the mstp token, therefore will not respond to the Who-Is broadcast and will not be able to communicate on the mstp network. The BACnet MS/TP protocol does not allow a slave only device to respond to a "Who-Is" broadcast. Resolution Check 3rd party device documentation or contact 3rd party device vendor for Master/Slave settings and configure for Master to communicate on a MSTP network. Slave only devices cannot come online and will require a 3rd party interface to convert to a protocol that can be directly supported by Continuum.   Examples of BACnet MSTP Slaves that are known not to respond to a Continuum Who-Is request and so not come online are: - The Babel Buster 485XM from Control Solutions Inc is BTL listed as a BACnet Slave device , their PICs statement can be seen Here. - Wilo pumps Interface Modules: IF-Modul BACnet & IF-Modul Stratos BACnet, their PICs statement can be seen Here. Additional Note In SmartStruxure a "slave only" MSTP device can ba manually created.

How to upgrade to to version 1.9.1 from a 1.5.0, 1.6.1 or 1.7.1 SBO system with LON devices

Issue Does the entire SBO system need to be upgraded to 1.5.0.171xx, 1.6.2.12xxx or 1.7.2.111xx before upgrading to 1.9.1 if the network includes LON devices? Can SBO be upgraded directly to 1.9.1 from 1.5.X, 1.6.X or 1.7.X? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SBO Workstation 1.5.0/1.6.1/1.7.1 SBO ES 1.5.0/1.6.1/1.7.1 SBO AS 1.5.0/1.6.1/1.7.1 SBO AS-P 1.7.1 Cause In systems that have SBO servers that already are hosting LON devices based on LonWorks imported device templates (.XIF) or resource kits (.DRF), the servers need to be prepared before an upgrade from versions 1.5/1.6/1.7 to version 1.9.1. Even servers where device templates (.XIF) or resource kits (.DRF) are just imported, and no devices or network variables are created yet, the servers have to be prepared before the upgrade. Resolution Please see section 9.2.3 of SBO 1.9.1 Release Notes. Although it says "Steps to upgrade a 1.6.2/1.7.2 multi-server system" you don't have to upgrade the AS or ES etc, even if they run 1.6.1/1.7.1, it's only SBO Workstation that need to be hotfixed. Links to the different Workstation hotfixes can be found Server with LonWorks devices - TPA-SBO-17-0002.00 - Links to hot fixes. If there are no LON devices in the system, you may upgrade directly to 1.9.1 from 1.5.X/1.6.X/1.7.X
