DC1100 / DC1400 Display corruption.

Issue DC1100 / DC1400 Displays two horizontal black lines when powered up. Product Line Field Device Environment DC1100 / DC1400 Discrete Controller. Cause Cold Start has not been performed. Cold Start has been performed incorrectly. Mains borne corruption has affected processor. Resolution Carry out Cold Start: Isolate Controller power supply. Press and hold down "Enter" and "Exit" buttons. Keep "Enter" and " Exit" buttons depressed while restoring power. Display should show "Self Test" and "Initiating System Variables" Release "Enter" and "Exit" buttons. Controller may then be programmed in accordance with Data Sheet instructions.   Or, if the controller is non-recoverable, the DC1100 and DC1400 units are now obsolete. However, there are several 3rd party companies offering refurbished units, these can be found by using a browser and searching e.g. DC1100 repairs.

Replacing a Controlli MVB actuator on a VMB valve Replacing a Controlli S300 Actuator

Issue The MVB actuator is no longer available from Schneider Electric Replacing a Controlli S300 Actuator Product Line Field Devices Environment VMB valves MVB actuators S300 actuator Cause Only the actuator requires replacing but the MVB is no longer available from Schneider Electric. Resolution Note: The MVB actuators are still manufactured by Controlli, but not distributed by Schneider Electric. Use the AG52 valve linkage kit 880-0129-000. For the Controlli MVB22, MVB26 and MVB28 or S300 replace with the MV15B-230 actuator For the Controlli MVB46 replace with the MV15B-24 actuator For the Controlli MVB32, MVB52 and MVB56 replace with the M800 880-0310-030 actuator If a D36 auxiliary switch was fitted in the  the MVB actuator or if the auxiliary switch was used in the S300 actuator then the following auxiliary switch packs can be used: M800, use the 880-0104-000 kit or order the M800-S2 880-0311-030 actuator which includes 2 auxiliary switches. MV15B-24/230, use the 880-0469-000 kit. Note: if the valve also requires replacing see VSB, VSB..F, VMB, VMB..F Schneider Electric replacement valves.

Temperature Sensor Resistance Charts

Issue Temperature Sensor Resistance Charts Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Operation, Field Devices, Satchwell MicroNet, Satchwell Sigma, TAC IA Series, TAC INET, TAC Vista Environment Temperature Sensors Cause Temperature (°C) to Resistance Charts (ohms). Upgrading the site BMS, but retaining the existing sensors and the sensor resistance values are not known. Resolution The resistance of a sensor at a specific temperature can be downloaded here. The devices covered are Schneider-Electric's range including Andover, TAC and Satchwell and other manufacturers temperature sensors. All are detailed below. For the standard thermistor, tables click here, where the INET, I/A, and BALCO resistance tables are detailed. This is the chart for the Precon Thermistors - ACCTemp 10K Type III thermistor also known as the 10K4A1 Thermistor. For EcoStruxure I/O Module universal inputs, the type of thermistor bead is classed as a: "10k Type I (Continuum)" Satchwell T range is now known as STR600, STP660, STD600, STO600 10K3A1 with shunt Drayton DC1000, DC1100 30K6A1 is now known as STR600D, STP600D, STO600D Andover 10K4A1 TAC Inc. Vista 1.8KA1 I/A series 10K3A1 with 11K shunt INET 10K2A1 (10k Dale) BALCO 1000 ohm RTD Older Satchwell ranges: Satchwell DW1204, DW1305, DWS1202 Satchwell DO Satchwell DD/DR Other manufacturers include: Allerton 3K3A1 Ambiflex 2012, Honeywell Aquatrol, Jel/Thorn, Trend, York 10K3A1 Schlumberger (air) 5K3A1 Schlumberger (immersion) 100K6A1 Automatrix, York, Sibe 10K4A1 Honeywell 20K6A Landis & Gyr PT100A, PT1000A For I/A Series Controllers (MNL/MNB) Compatible sensors that have a built-in 11k shunt resistor include the TS-5711-850, TS-57011-850, TS-57031-850, and TSMN-90110-850 Series. Any sensor that matches resistance to temperature curve for a 10K Thermistor Type G (U.S. Sensor), Type 9 (Dale/Vishay) or Type III (ACI Series AH) can be used with the I/A Series MNL and I/A Series MNB series controllers, provided that a 11k ± 0.1% 1/8 watt resistor is wired in parallel with the sensor. The input has a range of -10 to 135 °F (-23.3 to 57.2 °C) with an accuracy of ±1% of span. Issue TAC TRV-S series Butterfly Valve Body requires replacement. Product Line Field Devices Environment TAC TRV-S series Butterfly Valve Body installations. Cause Obsolescence of TAC TRV-S series Butterfly Valve Body. Resolution Replace TAC TRV-S series Butterfly Valve Body with S-E VF208W series Butterfly Valve Body. Replace TAC MB15 / MB30 Actuator with S-E MF20 / MF40 series Actuator as appropriate. It should be noted that where a TAC TRV-S series Butterfly Valve Body is to be replaced by a S-E VF208W series Butterfly Valve Body the TAC Actuator fitted to the TAC TRV-S Butterfly Valve Body will not be suitable for reuse on the S-E VF208W.Buttterfly Valve Body. TAC TRV-S series Butterfly Valves utilise TAC MB15 / MB30 series Actuators. TAC MB15 / MB30 Actuators are not suitable for use on S-E VF208W series Butterfly Valve Bodies. S-E VF208W series Butterfly Valve Bodies utilise S-E MF20 / MF40 series Actuators. Replacement of TAC VG211, VG222 and VG321 series Valve Bodies by S-E.VGS211F 15 and 100CS series Valve Bodies due to obsolescence.

Issue Obsolescence of TAC VG211, VG222, and VG321 series Valve Bodies. Product Line Field Devices Environment TAC VG211, VG222, and VG321 series Valve Body installations. Cause Obsolescence of TAC VG211, VG222, and VG321 series Valve Bodies. Resolution Replace TAC VG211 series Valve Body with S-E.VGS211F 15 – 100CS series Valve Body. It should be noted that a number of anomalies appear in the current issue of the Data Sheet describing the VGS211F 15 - 100CS range of 2-port Valve Bodies. The VGS211F 15-100CS Data Sheet includes two tables of information. A discrepancy appears in respect of the Kv value stated for the 50mm size Valve Body. The table of information on Page 1 of the Data Sheet displays a Kv value of 38 The table of information on Page 2 of the Data Sheet displays a Kv value of 40 The correct Kv value is 40 The type designation stated in the Data Sheet for this Valve Body is also incorrect. The type designation for this Valve Body should read VGS211F-50CS 40M SD00 Arrangements are currently in hand to correct these anomalies. NB The table on Page 1 of the earlier VG211 Data Sheet displayed a Kv value of 38 This value was also incorrect. The Kv value should have read 40 The VG222, VG222 and VG321 are no longer available, as it is replaced with the following: VG222 Valves will have the family name VG221F VG321 Valves will have the family name VG311F Please find the Product Announcement PA-00085 with the information.

Replace Satchwell 871-1-202 TR2 (50VA) 230 V ac / 24 V ac Transformer with S-E TR 60 (60VA) 230 V ac / 24 V ac Transformer SE part number 3413060000. Replace Satchwell 871-1-203 TR3 (80VA) 230 V ac / 24 V ac Transformer with Transformer of another manufacturer's origin. Replace Satchwell 871-1-204 TR4 (200VA) 230 V ac / 24 V ac Transformer with Transformer of another manufacturer's origin. Replace Satchwell 871-1-205 TR5 (300VA) 230 V ac / 24 V ac Transformer with Transformer of another manufacturer's origin. The S-E TR range of Transformers provide the same functionality as the Satchwell TR range of Transformers but differ in appearance, dimensions and the range of VA ratings available. Specification EN 60742, with which the Satchwell range of Transformers complied, has been superseded by Specification EN 61558, with which the S-E range of Transformers comply. Issue Replacement for Drayton A703 Immersion Temperature Sensor by S-E STP600D Product Line Field Devices Environment Drayton A703 Immersion Temperature Sensor installation. Cause Obsolescence of Drayton A703 Immersion Temperature Sensor Resolution 1.  Replace Drayton A703 Immersion Temperature Sensor with S-E STP600D The S-E STP600D provides the same functionality as the Drayton A703, differing only in its appearance and dimensions. The S-E STP600D Terminals are not polarised. N.B. It should be noted that the S-E STP600D is not supplied with a compatible Pocket. If it is not possible to utilise the existing Drayton Pocket, then a 100mm S-E Pocket (9121041000-Brass or 9121051000-Stainless Steel) should be selected as appropriate and in order to comply with the system requirements. There is a intentional gap between the top of the pocket, and the sensor housing, to ensure the probe tip touches the end of the pocket.

What is the BACnet MSTP unit load of the SpaceLogic SLP sensors

Issue What is the unit load of the SpaceLogic SLP Room Units that will help me to calculate how many SLP Room Units that can be added on ComA and ComB of a SmartX Server. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation, Field Devices Environment SpaceLogic SLP Room Unit SmartX Server Cause Documentation does not state the Unit Load (UL) of the SpaceLogic SLP Room Unit. Resolution The Generic application note AN01 can be applied with answers to the transceiver interface attributes below. The SpaceLogic SLP Room Unit range use the SN65HVD1781DR transceivers which are a failsafe transceiver (not requiring bias) and reduced 1/10 UL. In addition there are no local bias resistors and therefore the 1/10 UL of the transceiver would be the total UL presented to the bus by the SpaceLogic SLP Room Unit. Transceiver Xcvr Unit Load Xcvr Failsafe Adaptor Circuit Bias Circuit Bias Load Total Unit Load Isolated 485 Bus SN65HVD1781DR 0.1 Yes None None 0.1 No Based on the above the total number of devices can be calculated as 32/0.1 = 320. The BACnet MSTP standard specifies that the address range for BACnet master devices is 0-127 and therefore a SmartX Server is limited to 127 devices per com port (254 total per Server) so this should effectively be the limiting factor. Since the SpaceLogic SLP Room Unit does not have an isolated RS-485 interface it conforms to Generic RS-485 Network Device Configuration 1 in EBO Webhelp.  A network consisting of only SpaceLogic SLP Room Units should only require a 120 ohm termination resistor at each end of the bus and not require any bias resistors. Issue Replacement actuator for the STL-SR valve Product Line Field Devices Environment STL-SR Cause Replacement actuator for a STL-SR valve Resolution A M800 actuator or MV15B-24 or MV15B-230 actuator can be used to replace the actuator on the STL-SR valve series. Click here for the STL-SR datasheet. Notes: The original actuator e.g. M5CP, may have had a potentiometer fitted to provide position feedback to the controller. There is no direct replacement, the controller, actuator and valve may have to be changed. As a workaround, The M800 provides a 2-10V feedback, using a signal conditioner this could be converted to a resistive feedback. The original actuator may have had end switches fitted, order end switches to suit the replacement actuator. The M800 when used in floating control mode (dip switch 2= On) requires 4 wires. The original actuator used 3 wires to provide floating control.

Resolution Use the Worksheet for Configuration of RS-485 Bus with generic RS-485 devices on Webhelp to determine the appropriate Modbus configuration. The answers to the transceiver interface attributes below can be applied to complete the worksheet. Q1 Failsafe Receiver : The TC900 uses an RS-485 transceiver with an integrated idle-state failsafe receiver. Q2 Data Transmission Speed : TC900 thermostats can be configured to communicate at 4800, 9600, 19200 or 38400 bps. Q4 Isolated Interface : The TC900 does not provide an isolated RS-485 interface. Q6a Measured Resistance : With no electrical connections to the TC900, the measured resistance between the RS-485 low-side (-) signal and the communications common is 8.2K ohms. Based on this the unit load of the TC900 is 1.46 (12.000/8,200) Bias requirements and number of devices If there are only TC900 devices on the RS-485 bus then Generic RS-485 Network Device configuration 1 applies, configuration becomes very simple and no node or distance reductions are called for. The failsafe receivers can typically operate with no added bias resistors. Connect a 120 ohm termination resistor across the + and - data lines at the head end of the bus (typically at the SmartX server). Connect another 120 ohm termination resistor across the + and - data lines on the last node at the far end of the bus. Connect the shield drain wire to earth ground terminal rail in the panel with the SmartX server. This is the only ground connection of the shield for the complete cable segment. Connect the RET/Shield terminal (see the figure below) on the SmartX server to the ground rail in the panel using a 12 AWG (3.31 mm²) to 18 AWG (0.82 mm²) wire. Since the TC900 has a unit load of 1.4 the maximum number of devices that can be placed under each comm port using this configuration is 21 (31.5 / 1.46 = 21.5) Also check out the SmartStruxure-RS485-Controller Unit Load Quick-Help video on the Exchange.

GV sensor for use with TAC Xenta controller

Issue Can the GV sensor be connected to the TAC Xenta controller using Analog Input signal? Product Line TAC Vista, Field Devices Environment Xenta 401 Xenta 301 Xenta 281 Xenta 121 Xenta 122 Cause The GV sensor is non-electrical itself and needs a VAV controller to measure the air velocity transferred from the sensor. Resolution The 224V and 224VL that are listed in the GV documentation, are both obsolete and no longer available. The Xenta 102ES, part no. 007305370, is designed to work with the GV sensor.

Issue TC300 Series Networking Digital Fan Coil Thermostat - Modbus Protocol Documentation Product Line Field Devices Environment TC300 Series Digital Fan Coil Thermostats Cause Modbus protocol information is needed in order to perform Modbus integration to the TC300 Series Digital Fan Coil Thermostats. Resolution The TC303 thermostats come with the option of Modbus communication for both 2- and 4-pipe configurations. Modbus is an open, widespread and well established serial communication protocol used within building automation. The support of Modbus communication allows simple integration of the TC303 thermostats to a building management system, using standard Modbus serial communications. The following models provide support for Modbus connectivity: TC303-3A2LM TC303-3A4LM TC303-3A2DLMS TC303-3A4DLMS TC303-3A2DPMS TC303-3A4DPMS The TC303 thermostats communicate as a Modbus RTU slave device over a serial RS-485 connection, allowing for the transfer of real time data. Thermostats manufactured from November 2018 (2018-W44-4)* onward can be configured to communicate at 9600 (default) or 4800 bps. The communication parameters for TC-300 thermostats manufactured prior to this date cannot be adjusted and are fixed as follows: 4800bps Baud Rate 8 Data Bits Odd Parity 1 Stop Bit The actual Modbus address of the thermostat can be set for each individual device on the RS-485 network. The address is defined via the parameter menu on the thermostat itself. The address range available is from 01 to 32 and is defined under menu item 04 of the parameter settings. Viconics branding VT8000 Series Cause The PswrdSet parameter sets a protective access password to prevent unauthorized access to the configuration menu parameters. An error code is displayed whenever the password lockout is active and an incorrect password is used. Resolution Contact your region's Customer Care Center for a temporary password. The error code which is unique to that controller will be required by the Customer Care Center to calculate the temporary password. Note for PSS; Check Internal article.
