Cannot logon to MPM using the Administrator password

Issue An application package (VAV reheat VA2) downloaded from the Can2Go site is restored to an MPM. It is then not possible to log on to the MPM using the default administrator password. SEC-TE/SED-0 does not join the MPM’s ZigBee network and does not go online

Issue SEC-TE (TE2) smart terminal controller / SED-0 (DA2) smart wireless actuator will not come online in an MPM controller. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert, Field Devices Environment SmartStruxure Lite Multi-Purpose Manager Smart Controllers Cause The Zigbee network configuration parameters in the MPM have been entered incorrectly. Resolution The application version of the SEC-TE/SED-0 must be determined before proceeding forward. Sticker on device should read V13 or V14. To check/modify the current settings, navigate to the "ZigBee Configuration" object (ZBC) under the MPM. For Application Version 13: Stack profile should be set to "Custom" and Security profile should be set to "None." For Application Version 14: Stack profile should be set to "ZigBee Pro" and Security profile should be set to "Home Automation."

MPM BACnet Integration

Issue How can objects of a SmartStruxure™ Lite network be made available as BACnet points to third party BACnet building management system (BMS)? Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment SmartStruxure Lite BACnet Cause The BACnet protocol is always active, as long as the network cable is connected. However, two different BACnet options can be selected: IP or Ethernet. The default option is Ethernet and this will need to be changed if BACnet over IP is required. Resolution The BACnet protocol is always active, as long as the network cable is connected. However, two different BACnet options can be selected: IP or Ethernet. The default option is Ethernet. To verify or to change which BACnet protocol is currently in use, select the SmartStruxure Lite Manager that you want to configure from the left-side Network panel. Then choose the BACnet configuration list item. Define the Network Number (if the protocol selected is BACnet IP). Note: The Network number must be defined only on the monitor Manager. It shall be different then the Parent Network where the monitor is connected. A BACnet Device is uniquely located by a network number and a MAC address. Creating two or more B/IP networks, each with a unique network number, can be useful for limiting the propagation of local broadcast messages and for providing security by confining traffic to a particular geographic or logical area. Select the desired protocol type from the drop-down list between BACnet IP and BACnet Ethernet. Then choose an optional port number (if the protocol selected is BACnet IP). Default is 47808. Select the BACnet Priority of the BACnet write action of the SmartStruxure™ Lite's network monitor. Default is 10. Note: SmartStruxure™ Lite does not support BACnet Write Priority, per se. However, in Firmware version 2.4.x and newer, it is possible to assign the write priority for all SmartStruxure™ Lite BACnet points. Default value is 10, except if you upgrade a Manager using a version 2.3.x or older, BACnet priority will be 8, but can be changed. Click the Save button to apply the configuration changes. Click hit the Save All button to make the modifications permanent and reboot the Manager for the new options to enter into effect. Change the BACnet instance number of the Manager if required. IMPORTANT Each Manager must have a unique BACnet device instance number. A Manager device instance number can be changed by selecting the top-left icon inside the left-side Network panel.

Best practices when commissioning ZigBee networks

Issue Controllers may leave their network and join another if a nearby network has an identical "Extended network ID", "Channel" or "PAN ID" Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment SmartStruxure Lite Multi-Purpose Manager SE8xxx Room controller SE8000 Series SER8300, SE8300, SE8350 Ex. Viconics branding VT8000 Series Cause Conflict in zigbee networks (Same "Channel", same "PAN ID" or Same "Extended Network ID") Resolution Before deployment, and in order to ensure having a reliable ZigBee network, one has to be aware of the best practices and the limitations of RF signals. Here are some key points to be considered Network Conflicts: Always change your Extended Network ID from the factory default. The best thing is to use a naming convention that makes sense. One suggestion would be to use "SSLLITxx," where "xx" is replaced by the floor the network is on. For example, floor 5 would be "SSLLIT05." If you have multiple networks on the same floor, adding a letter code helps denote them. For example, if there were 2 networks on floor 5, "SSLLI05A" and "SSLLI05B" can be used. Note: In Firmware 2.20.1, the ZigBee Extended Network ID parameter is set by default to a unique string based on the serial number of the MPM. This will eliminate the possibility of having duplicate Extended ID's in a new deployment. For existing installations, the Extended Network ID will remain unchanged if upgrading from a previous version.   Alternating Channels: Alternating channels between network will minimize interference ensure stability. For example, for a 5-story building, alternate between channels 20, 25, 20, 25, 20. Tx Power Upgrade: The default value for "Tx Power" is 5dBm which was designed in order to meet various regulations in certain countries (Europe). However, the "Tx Power" can be increased to 18dBm in other regions of the world (North America) to boost the transmission power of the MPM.   Interference: There are different types of interference when a wireless signal travels through a given space: Physical objects: The number of walls the wireless signal can pass through is determined by the density of the materials used in a building's construction. Concrete and steel walls are difficult for a signal to pass through. These structures will weaken or at times completely prevent wireless signals. Also, the presence of individuals or water will diminish the signal due to the water's ability to absorb the signal. 2.4Ghz Frequency Interference: Cordless Phone - operates on the same frequency as the ZigBee and can cause a significant decrease in performance. Microwave Oven - operates by emitting a very high power signal in the 2.4GHz band. Often emits a very "dirty" signal across the entire 2.4GHz band. Wireless Routers - Wireless Wi-Fi Networks that share the same channel will have a negative effect on ZigBee network performance. Distance: To ensure reliable communications, a suitable distance between two devices has to be calculated before installation. The distance depends on three factors; transmitter power, sensitivity of the receiver and the propagation path loss. The latter is dependent on the number of walls/physical objects obstructing the signal. Locations: The physical location where a router or coordinator is placed also has an impact on the signal. Place the devices in higher ground to reduce the impact of physical objects. Route Redundancy: It is critical that the signal has multiple routes to hop from one device to the other, from one edge of the network to the opposite edge. (See example in images below)

PLEASE GOTO http://challenge.aol.com/spam.html Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment SmartStruxure Lite MPM AOL Cause This is AOL trying to stop people using its email service to generate spam, you are now required to periodically enter a series of numbers or letters from a web page in addition to normal username and password authentication. Resolution See AOL help to understand the issue further. This post on the internet also notes the issue and unfortunately this is something that AOL has added and is not under our control.

Lost Multi Purpose Manager (MPM) Password

Issue Unable to gain access to Building Expert Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment SmartStruxure Lite Multi Purpose Manager MPM-GW MPM-UN MPM-VA Cause The admin password has been changed and the user has lost the password Resolution For MPM with firmware 2.14 and earlier: Send the MPM 'default.db' file to Product Support.  From a web browser, you can save the default.db file to the local drive by typing the address http://[ip_address]/root/default.db (replace [ip_address] with the actual IP address of the MPM, or 10.50.80.2 if bootloader is used) For MPM with firmware 2.15 and later: Send the MPM Node ID or MAC Address to Product Support. Refer to the document StruxureWare Building Expert Password Recovery for the procedure to obtain the MPM Node ID or MAC Address.

How to use MPM Modbus Generic Driver

Issue In firmware 2.19.1, the MPM Modbus Generic Driver feature has been introduced with little to no explanation on how to use it Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment Multi Purpose Manager (MPM) Cause Sample CSV file not available on MPM Resolution In order to establish communication with a modbus device, a CSV (comma separated values) file of a certain format must be uploaded to the GMC1 object. Once uploaded the file will be visible in the drop-down list.   Requirements and Limitations Only holding registers are supported at this time (Modbus function codes 3 and 16) The CSV file mast be renamed Modbus_[label].csv where label is the name of the device or a label to help identification (e.g. Modbus_SE8000.csv) Write only registers are not supported It is not possible to use a more than 32 bits variable in write mode It is not possible to leave a blank column in CSV register configuration file except the last column It is not possible to create a continuous register table using different variable types   The CSV file must have the following format: modbus_addr,register_type,label,access,factor,unit Download example here (The text file can be viewed in a text editor but its extension must renamed to csv before uploading it to the MPM) modbus_addr: modbus register address (Decimal number between 1 and 65535) register_type: "uint" (UI16) "int" (SI16) "float" (F32) "ulong" (UI32) "int64" (SI64) "uint64" (UI64) label: name for this register, this will also be used to populate the associated object in the MPM Alphanumeric value between 1 and 32 characters. Highlight the Device's name e.g. SmartStruxure Controller and go to the Configuration tab. On Ethernet Settings (ETH1) The IP address of the MPM controller must be in the same subnet IP range of the BMS IP address, but not the same IP address. Netmask must be the same subnet on both controllers (MPM and BMS) e.g. 255.255.255.0, if not then a BBMD/Foreign Device needs to be used. Gateway IP if used. On BACnet Settings (BAC1) Network ID (171) used on the MPM controller must be different than the BMS network numbers used for BACnet MS/TP and BACnet IP Set Protocol to BACnet IP Click on the upper-left icon (Save database to flash) Important! Right-click on "SmartStruxure Controller" then on "Restart Controller," be patient. On the BMS Jace AX, under BACnet network, click on Discover, uncheck all MPM Networks assigned within the MPM (if this facility is available in the BMS), in this example we have only one, it’s #171, refer to point 4. If you don't uncheck MPM network number, the devices will still discover but with duplicates. In this example, network #1 is the BMS IP network and needs to be checked. Network #300 is the BMS MS/TP network number, and has no impact on discovering the MPM as a BACnet device. Click OK. Here’s the result of the discovery, all the objects we had at point 4. are shown. Now add the Devices to the Database, then select one device (in this example the SE8600 is selected), click the Discover button, all objects we had in point 4. are now in AX. Add them to AX database.

If Status shows Stopped, you must configure Building Operation. Otherwise, proceed to step 2. Ensure all Ports are correctly configured. Click Start Service and wait until application running shows in Path field. Click OK. Building Operation is now ready to integrate with SmartStruxure Lite The following example is using Server 1 in System Tree tab. In System Tree tab, right-click on Server 1. In newly opened window, select New. In newly opened sub window, select Interface. Click on Web Service to expand. Select EcoStruxure Web Service. In Name field, enter EcoStruxure Web Service. NOTE: If you are connecting to another StruxureWare Server, you must use an account that is in the default domain for log in credentials. Click Create button. Allow database to save completely before moving on to next step. In Server Tree tab, ensure new interface shows. You are now ready to connect your MPM Controller with Building Operation. Refer below to “Procedure - Connect MPM Controller to Building Operation." Procedure - Connect MPM Controller to Building Operation Ensure your MPM is physically connected to your workstation. In Server Tree tab, expand System folder. Expand Hardware folder. Expand EcoStruxure Web Services folder. Right-click C2G_root folder and select Host EWS Objects in sub window. Expand EcoStruxure Web Services folder. Select EcoStruxure and then select Web Services Properties Tab. Set Alarm Polling to Disabled. Procedure - View and Watch Data Points Expand CAN2GO controller. Environment Windows OS 7 8 10 Continuum 1.9x 2.x Inet SQL 2005 SQL 2008 SQL 2012 Cause Microsoft has introduced the use of a higher level of security in the install of their SQL database software SQL 2005 / SQL 2008 / SQL 2012. When you install Continuum you need to make sure you are logged onto the PC / Laptop as a local administrator, in the case of a lot of a corporate networks, you are most likely logged on as ether a restricted user or a domain administrator, these logons do not have the privileges you need to install an SQL database. Resolution Step by step guide to creating a local administrator user on your PC / Laptop Go to "Start" then "Control Panel" in Windows (Windows 7 and above, top right corner change "view by" to "small icons" this will show all icons) Go to "Administrative Tools" Go to "Computer Management" / "Local Users and Groups" In users, right click on the right panel and add new user Fill in the user name and password, un-tick user must change password Tick password never expires then ok it Now go back into control panel and click on "User Accounts" Click on the name you just created, this will open the properties screen (Windows 7 and above click on "Manage user accounts") Click on "Group Membership" then select others, and highlight administrators (Windows 7 and above double click on name you created, click "group membership" click "other" then in the drop down select "Administrator") Apply this and then ok it. MSTP Cable type Spec Cause Often an incorrect cable type is used when wiring MS/TP devices, unless the correct cable specification is used it is unlikely you will get reliable communications. Resolution The BACnet Controller Technical Reference defines the following cable specification for a MS/TP (MSTP) cable: RS-485 Cable Specifications: Cables used to form the RS-485 network should conform to the following specifications: Wire Size: 22-24 AWG Cable Type: Twisted-pair, copper wire, tinned Shield: Braid Nominal Impedance: 100-120 Ohms Velocity of propagation: 78% Capacitance: <12.5 pF/ft (~ 41pF/M) between conductors and < 22 pF/ft (~72pF/M) between the conductor connected to ground and the next conductor. Using WireShark to analyse communications on an Ethernet network

Issue General use of the Wireshark program. Product Line Access Expert, Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Expert, EcoStruxure Building Operation, Pelco, Satchwell MicroNet, Satchwell Sigma, TAC IA Series, TAC INET, TAC Vista Environment Ethernet Networks Cause General Information on using WireShark. Resolution Wireshark is an Ethernet packet analysis programme, Which can be downloaded from: Latest version available from Wireshark Locally stored version 1.0.9 Installing Wireshark If necessary, unzip the WireShark executable file to a suitable location on the PC/Laptop you wish the programme to be installed on. Run the executable file and follow the on-screen instructions. Rules for capturing LAN traffic using Wireshark: Do not use a switch or router to connect the LAN capture PC to the network as these will filter important network activity that you will need to see. You will want to capture everything that is passing over the network at the point of concern. Usually, this means tapping into the ethernet at the Controller or controllers, that is having an issue. midBit-Technologies-LLC-10-100 is an example of a device that can be used to easily tap into the network to take the capture. The monitoring PC must see all traffic from the controller's point of view. The monitoring PC can be connected in either two ways: Connected to the network at the controller The customers IT department can mirror all the network traffic from the controllers port to another port the PC can be connected to. If connected to the network at the controllers, the connection must be made through a true ethernet hub. A hub will not selectively filter important network traffic as a switch or a router will do. More information on what a "true ethernet hub" can be found at http://wiki.wireshark.org/HubReference There are however some switches that feature port mirroring, please see How to Configure a NETGEAR Prosafe Plus Switch for Mirroring. If connected to a mirrored port, the port must mirror 100% of the network traffic to and from the controller. No filtering should be done. Once a complete capture file has been obtained it can be filtered after the fact using WireShark or EtherReal. Using Wireshark Run WireShark Start a trace by choosing the "Capture" menu and then select "Interfaces" Choose the appropriate interface. Generally, this can be identified by its IP Address, but if not, then the packets increasing are an indication. Press the "Start" button. The trace will start and will be similar to the following screenshot. After an appropriate time, the trace can be stopped by selecting "Capture" menu and "Stop" To save the capture file, choose "File" menu and "Save As".

Disabling administrator rights messages in Windows 7 OS and above

If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue Software installation problems with Windows 7 OS and above Configuration problems also known as UAC / User Account Control These problems occur when you receive an error message stating that you do not have the correct administrative rights to continue. Product Line Andover Continuum, EcoStruxure Building Expert, EcoStruxure Building Operation, Satchwell MicroNet, Satchwell Sigma, TAC INET, TAC Vista Environment Windows 7 Windows 8 8.1 Windows 10 Server 2012 Cause Windows 7 and above user administrator privilege settings (UAC) Resolution The solution to this issue is to turn off the user admin settings before the software is installed by following these instructions: Go to Start > Control Panel. Set the view to "small icons" to show all Control Panel icons Click on "User Accounts." Make sure that the account used for installing the software is a full admin user. On this page, click on "Change User Account Control settings", a slider bar that starts with "Never notify" up to "Always notify" by default will be set to "Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer" Set it to "Never notify." This will disable all the admin blocks that pop up in installing and configuring software Once set, restart the PC and then continue with your software installation and configuration Once all is installed and working, the feature may be turned back on if required. Additional requirements for Windows server 2012 and Windows 10. Please note: this process may open the "Windows 10 Firewall up" For Windows Server 2012 and Windows 10, additional steps are required to disable User Account Control. Although the slider bar can be set to “Never Notify”, the User Account Control does not disable completely. The User Account Control can be disabled for any user by setting the system registry value “EnableLUA” to zero in the system registry under the registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system”. A Windows registration file has been included in the Continuum 2.01 release in order to expedite these additional steps. Or the attached file EnableLUA.zip can be used, unzip and execute.  Supplement: Using the right click "run as administrator" instead of this is not the same. The right click will only run that .exe as an administrator and not the whole install/configuration package, i.e. SQL2005 manager will fail to run if you do not do as instructed above. You will always get an error stating that you do not have permission to run this program.  Alternate Windows 10 Admin. to User privilege for I/Net Seven:   Go to this path: C:\Program Files (x86)\ Inet Seven 1) Rename and move to a new folder these files.       A) INetIoSrv.exe.manifest       B) INetW.exe.manifest       C) If there is a file equalization client, then there is INetEqzMerge.exe.manifest to do this change on as well.  2) Change the DbCreate by doing this:       Another problem for non-admin users will be logging into and using DbCreate. A work-around for that would be to create a new login into the SQL database that could be shared among all DbCreate users and would provide the necessary rights.       Alternate Windows 7 Admin to User privilege for I/Net Seven:  See the attached Document and Manifest Files
