When I use the NS-1250 and my new Windows 7 PC then:
1. When the data cable is not connected to the PC, the system works when I cut the power to the UPS and the UPS switches to the battery. The PC power supply is fine and my PC stays powered on. The display on the UPS shows that it has 14 minutes of reserve power. But, Windows is oblivious to the existence of the UPS and will eventually have a uncontrolled shutdown when the battery in the UPS gets depleted. Not good.
2. With the data cable connected, Windows shows the battery icon in the system tray (100% charged). The power option profile is High performance, which is supposed to put the PC to sleep after 10 minutes. However, when I pull the plug on the UPS and it switched to battery, the PC shuts down immediately in an uncontrolled manner. On the next boot, windows complains of an abnormal shutdown and displays the boot menu to start in the safe mode etc.
Question: why is Windows not staying on when the data cable is connected and the battery settings are to wait 10 minutes before putting the PC to sleep?
I have attached the picture of my power settings.

ok, well 1.) is expected behavior.
when you do 2.), what happens to the UPS when the PC does an immediate shutdown? does it beep, indicate low battery, turn off, etc?
do you actually get 14 mins of runtime with 1.) as the UPS reports?
