I have been using a RS1500 as BB for my iMac for a long time. A couple of days ago I lost power for maybe 1 sec and down went my iMac. Until now I have been satisfied with Apple's Energy control so I checked on the battery charge and it was and still is 100%. So i rebooted and yesterday again lost power for a second and down went my iMac again. So down on the floor and button pressing got me this. 100% battery charge, 60hz in and out, 114v in and out and no load. And, since I no longer trusted this APC device, I had hooked my imac to a different UPS unit and had plugged a fan into this one. So I unplugged the RS 1500 and the fan kept running showing something over 100 minutes run time which was a lie as it decreased quite rapidly.
So what is the story on my RS1500? I don't want to use it for a computer as two failures is enough and since the load level no longer works, I just don't trust it.

Hi,
Sounds like a bad battery. What is the serial number of the Back-UPS and has the battery pack ever been replaced?
You will find the serial number on the bar code sticker on the bottom of the Back-UPS.

Keith,
The Back-UPS is 7 plus years old so if the battery pack has never been replace it should be. What you described indicates a bad battery. Another option since the unit is getting close to 8 years old is to trade in the UPS for a new unit. You will find trade in information at this link. http://www.apc.com/shop/tradeups/us/en/tradeups/overview.jsp
