Excluding the battery, how long are the Back-UPS ES units meant to last?
I've had one for six years, and recently it's been failing to supply power during an outage. It seems to be switching to battery correctly, and I can hear the inverter operating, but the outlets aren't seeing any power.

The life cycle on Back-UPS products in generally around six years, or two battery replacements. This is of course assuming good environmental conditions and only occasional power problems. Due to variables such as these it's possible for a Back-UPS unit to have a shorter, or longer lifetime.
