Back-UPS 650 ES keeps shuting off with a loud whisle tone.

I just bought the unit a month ago. My wife pluged a window unit into it on accident. No everytime we turn it on it last about 5-10 seconds and shuts off with the loud whistle tone. Can anyone help me fix the problem or is it fried?

Does it do the same thing if you turn it on with nothing plugged into it? Have you verified that both the red and black battery leads are connected? If yes to both, it sounds like the UPS may need to be replaced.

Try it with a small load, for example, a lamp. Then do a pull plug test.
