Hi - we are using an APC1000rm2u for the first time & don't have the instructions to hand. In our Medical application the unit is supplying a control server and part of our comissioning test is to ensure a UPS supply after a length of time of no i/p power - we are seeing on the digital display that the battery capacity display goes to 31% after our time run without i/put power (15 mins) - but the system doesn't allow full operation again when the power is re-applied. I assume the % display must be above a level b4 normal operation can resume - can you tell me what this % level must be?

When AC power returns, the UPS starts charging the battery and waits for two conditions to be satisfied before turning back on:
1) Return Delay -- this much time must elapse before the UPS turns back on. I think the default is 10 seconds.
2) Return Runtime Duration -- the battery must be able to support this much runtime before the UPS turns back on. I think the default is 0 seconds.

You can use PowerChute Business Edition or the Network Management Card to check these settings on your UPS and see if this explains the behavior or if there's something else wrong.

what do you mean by but the system doesn't allow full operation again when the power is re-applied.

after the UPS runs on battery, the battery charge/capacity will deplete. once AC power is restored, the UPS will then begin to charge up to 100%. the UPS should operate normally besides the fact that it is no longer fully charged and won't provide the full run time if the UPS loses AC input power again while it is charging up.

let me know if I misunderstood or if there is some other behavior you are seeing.
