Writing to the Windows System Event Log using PowerChute Network Shutdown v4.2 for Window

This question was originally posted by Otto on APC forums on 10/4/2016

From what I can tell PowerChute Network Shutdown v4.2 for Windows does not have the ability to write events to the Window System Event Log.  I did read that it did have that ability at one time but not any longer.

Has anyone ever come up with a way to write events to the System Event Log using some kind of script or 3rd party app?  Or is it possible to have the Network Management Card write to it independently of PCNS.  Our goal is to have Microsoft SCOM create alerts based on events.

Thanks!

The NMC supports syslog, and there are syslog servers that can write to windows event logs, for example:

http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/18086/Syslog-daemon-for-Windows-Eventlog

but there are probably commercial options as well.
