I work with sensitive scientific equipment and noise from the wall power often dominates the noise in my results. What would be the best UPS for buffering the power and effectively filtering EMI/RFI as well as low frequency variations while the UPS is still plugged into the wall (I tire of unplugging and going to battery for tests)?
Any advice is appreciated!

my recommendation would be something in the Smart UPS Online family or an online UPS. It uses the double online conversion and has no transfer time between AC input to battery power. it is great at filtering and accepting crappy power and outputting good power.
depending on your wattage or VA requirement, you may need to look at a larger UPS with the same benefits like a Symmetra LX or anything larger.

Here is a link to white paper #1 which talks about different topologies and their benefits, including double online coversion: http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/SADE-5TNM3Y_R7_EN.pdf
