Solved :I need help to configure Windows 2000 / 2003 Radius for AP7920 PDUs

This was originally posted on APC forums on 1/22/2011

I have some problem by configure radius templates for AP7920 PDUs.
what works is :
Authenticate Admin with APC-Service-Type (ID = 1; Typ =integer)=1
Authenticate Device with APC-Service-Type=2
Authenticate ReadOnly with APC-Service-Type=3

But what for parameter must be set, to limit the switched ports for different users with rights "device" ?

The manual and the knowledgebase are very incomplete ...

Thanks for all information

Hi "i picKed a winna", hi clarkson,

at first, thanks for your answers.

only "outlet" users can
that's right .. i've forgot this type in the list. it was in an other section described. (error by layer 8 : copy and paste)

the problem was the order of the parameter. at first you must send the outlet part and after then the servicetype.
after fix this, the next problem was that from the three configured ports only two will be shown. but if i send an unsed port (like 0) as last it works as well.
the return for outlets 1,4 and 6 should be, as well, like : 318:2:1,4,6,0::318:1:4
...so that different users only...
this will be solved by different groups in the AD and policies in IAS.
total i must be difined around 20 external used outlets. that is manageable.

but say it self ... documentation for implementing radius for APC-management-cards are very rare and incomplete.

hi

only "outlet" users can have access to different switched ports, not device or read only. i am not sure how to do it on Windows 2003 but we have this knowledgebase that seems the most helpful to explain outlet users (on FreeRadius) -> http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8012

there is a service type of outlet, which may be "4" then you need to indicate which outlets you want the outlet user to have access to like "1, 2, 5" somehow.

i hope that helps..
