I noticed that the SRT1000XLA has a "smart connect" selection in the "Status" menu, which when selected displays "No ethernet". I also noticed that there is a RJ45 network port (with a removable plastic cover) next to the serial port and the USB port. These two observations makes me think this UPS has the "smart connect" feature. However, searching the documentation for the SRT1000XLA turns up only one reference in the operations manual on page 8, where you are instructed to "Connect Smart Connect port to the nearest network.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

Hi,
The SRT does not have the SmartConnect capability. The port was included as a possible enhancement however development was dropped based on user feedback.

Hi Michael,
I don't believe that unit has Smart-Connect, those units tend to have a "C" in there model number. I would also note that the serial port on those units is presented as an RJ45 input so it might be the console port your noticing.
As for why it's in the menu, we previously had a standalone card for the Smart-Slot that would provided Smart-Connect but I believe that's no longer being sold.

Hi Gavan,
Thanks for responding. I've attached a photo showing the rear of the SRT, with the RJ45 network connector (with status lights), the serial RJ45 connector, and the USB connector. Clearly, the hardware is there, but it isn't working -- I don't know if it's due to lack of firmware support, or there's something internal missing that's preventing the ethernet port from working.
I bought this unit because the marketing materials (https://www.apc.com/shop/gd/en/products/APC-Smart-UPS-SRT-1000VA-120V/P-SRT1000XLA) stated that it was "network manageable", and "Provides remote power management of the UPS over the network." And: "Save time with easy and convenient remote/network accessibility." -- "Network manageable via serial, USB or Ethernet. Includes Powerchute® Software for convenient monitoring and control, safe operating system shutdown, and innovative energy management capabilities."
Clearly, none of this is true regarding network manageability. In order to get that, I would need to buy a AP card for the smart slot.
