SMT1500RM2U : Unacceptable utility voltage rate of change

This was originally posted on APC forums on 4/13/2011

Hi,

The SMT1500RM2U UPS is working fine, but I noticed this message under the UPS Tab/Overview section: Last Battery Transfer: Unacceptable utility voltage rate of change.

I'm not quite sure what to make of that informational message. Can some one give me some facts on this?

Thanks.

this generally means there was a rapid change in voltage and/or frequency sometimes. for instance, if a high current device turned on or drew a large amount of current, the voltage may have dropped down rapidly but then returned to 120v. thus, the UPS transferred to battery most likely cause of an issue with the input voltage.

you may also see it defined as delta V / delta T - desribing the rapid change if voltage over time.
