Network Management Card 2 smtp settings not saving

This was originally posted on APC forums on 12/6/2016

I have a model SMX3000RMLV2U, and I am trying to switch the SMTP settings to a new server.  I am accessing the unit via the web interface.  Originally when I switched the settings, I was still receiving emails from the old server somehow.  I have tried rebooting the management interface multiple times, changed to yet another SMTP sever, and back again.  The new SMTP server is internal to the network, so I changed the Gateway to an invalid address so that it couldn't get out to the old SMTP server.  Nothing has worked, and I am now receving a "50-Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable 550 Failure sending mail. Try again later." response.  I have two other exact same units, and they both accepted the new SMTP settings right away and work great.  The problem card is APC OS 6.2.1, where the others are 6.1.1.  I'm not sure if that's something that is applicable or not.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, Terry.  I took a look at the config, and it had the old SMTP settings still listed under EmailReceiver1.  I went into the web interface and under Configuration-Notification-Email-Recipients and selected the only address there.  For some reason, the Server was set to Custom and it had the old SMTP settings for the Custom Email Server Settings.  I'm not sure if I had put that in there when I set it up, or if it retained it on it's own, but it's fixed now.

The current firmware is 6.4.6, announced here. I don't know if there were any changes to the email stuff since 6.1/6.2, but I'd suggest that as a first step.

If you are still getting emails sent to the wrong address, I'd suggest ftp-ing to the card and doing a "get config.ini". Then open it up in an editor and search for "Email". They're all bunched in one place - the [NetworkEMAIL] group. If you see anything wrong with those, you can fix them in the editor and then doing a "put config.ini" to send it back to the card. You could get rid of anything before the [NetworkEMAIL] section and after the blank line after that section. That will make the process happen faster as the card won't have to look at all of the other settings, decide they're the same as what it already has, and ignore them. If the stuff in [NetworkEMAIL] looks correct, I don't know what is going on and we'll have to wait for one of the APC folks to diagnose it further.
