Delta Conversion UPS

This was originally posted on APC forums on 5/25/2009

We have two DP340E UPS in service, and a couple spares so we can add a needed.

For another facility we are going to need to install a UPS, and will need to be able to exand it.

I no longer see any reference to that Delta Conversion system. The two D340Es have worked with no issues for 6 years. It seems like an excellent way to go bypassing the main components and keeping the load low unless power goes away.

Is it no longer available and why did they quit making it if its not?

The Symmetra Megawatt series of UPS' is the only Delta Conversion topology UPS that APC currently has available for sale.

The Silcon line was discontinued was because our facility-size double conversion online UPS systems are now nearly as efficient. Additionally, the Silcons were not a modular system, which is a feature the vast majority of our customers find as a benefit in such a large UPS system. Finally, for their KVA/physical size, they were disproportionately expensive to produce and service.
