thank you for the input, looking at the documentation that comes with APC XS 1000 there is not mention on the front for checking the os for compatibility.Nor is there any warnings for not using native windows support. I am experienced so that in itself was a warning to me. however I can see where someone not as experienced as myself would just plug and play or down load and install software without choosing the correct OS version for the install. The biggest warning to me is the amount of people asking for information to uninstall. Enough to convince me that it is more than just isolated issues. ... So please someone come forward and let me know the issue? I prefer to avoid them and gaining proper knowledge before install is the best bet.

I'm using windows 7 x64.
2 Points:
# Why are the instructions not posted and why are the questions regarding this ignored,
# I followed instructions to remove the app. All good and dandy and no longer shows up as an application. HOWEVER, the native windows 7 features in power management do not show up. In other machines where I did not make the mistake to install powerchute, windows 7 power management allows to configure usage with and without battery. Even after removing powerchute, windows 7 no longer allows this. How can I restore the NATIVE windows 7 behavior please.
Point 1 PS
Would be MUCH simpler to trust the readers and post the instructions for everyone to see in a search. This makes it look like this is a way to increase the number of "members" to this forum, or hide how buggy and maldesigned power chute is.

That (removing APC driver from the batteries section of device manager) did the trick. Simple and immediate. In my case no need to unplug, restart or anything else.

Hi Kifo,
If PCPE cannot be removed using the usual un-installation method available, you'll end up doing a manual removal. I have sent the instructions via PM.

I just installed PowerChute Personal Edition off the CD that came with my UPS (Windows XP), and it will not let me start the software, and it will not let me delete the software, saying it can't remove registry keys even though i am the only user and running with complete Administrator rights. I also can't go in and manually delete the registry key, even though it seems I have stopped all the Services. Please email me the manual uninstall directions for PowerChute on Windows XP?
Thanks!

I tried to install Powerchute Personal 3.02 on my Win7 Pro 64 machine and it gave a Blue Screen. After rebooting, the program does not appear in Add Remove but the APC\Powerchute install folder is there. No shortcuts were created and even when I run the program in the folder, it fails to start.
I also check Device Manager and the "APC UPS" now appears in the Batteries tab.
Without the installer and obviously a botched install, how can I manually uninstall all traces of it?
Thanks!

Hi -
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on an Intel i5-2500k in a home-built rig based on an Intel H67 chipset/mobo and 16GB of RAM.
Version 3.0.0.1 (I think) was working fine until it caused the PC to chime with a report that there was an update available. I downloaded 3.0.0.2 and tried to over-install it. The uninstall partially completed then errored out with a message I don't recall. Now I can't use the uninstaller OR the installer.
I'm prepared to roll my sleeves up and uninstall it manually, registry edits and all, but would like the list of all the files and keys which may have been touched by PowerChute 3.0.0.1 and which I can safely remove without affecting anything else.
I know that .NET is required and the self-help calls for v2.0 SP2. I have v4.0 installed and the Windows components installer has the v3.51 checked. After that there is a dearth of relevant information online except for multiple pleas for help for similar problems on v2 and v3 versions of PowerChute.
Thank you for responding,
Frank.

The first post in this forum was on Mar 23, 2010 4:27 PM , it is now over 2 years later, and I am having the same issue with PowedChute 3.0.2, it's gotten itself tangled into some kind of knot. Here's what's happening.
When I reboot, I get some kind off missing upsdevice.dll or upsdriver.dll or something is missing, and display.exe cannot start. Powerchute doesn't start either, so I must assume the two are connected.
I downloaded a fresh copy of the 3.0.2 installer, and run it, I only get the "remove" option, so I run it and get "Please check the USB connectivity between your PC and UPS before you proceed. Rolling back the installation ..."
Which is odd, since I'm uninstalling not installing. It seems like this issue has been going on for WAY to long, please fix your software so it at least uninstalls properly when something goes wrong. It's not like APC's the only alternative out there for UPS's these days, it's not really going to help you if the geeks who recommend your product get upset because they can't remove or (what I want to do) re-install your software so our machines shut down properly.
Please let me know how to scrub this software off of my machine so I can get it re-installed and working, and please post it somewhere in this forum too, this "email only" attitude is keeping me from finding the answer to a 2 year old problem quickly and easily on a Saturday morning when a quick power blip woke me up with a beeping UPS.

Hi!
My PowerChute personal 3.0.2 gives me an error "Managed PC shutdown not provided" and for some reason I can't uninstall PowerChute or repair my current installation with Powerchute 3.0.2 installer package.
New installation notices old Powerchute installation and if I try to uninstall powerchute I get error message: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Can somebody to send some script or instructions how to manually delete and uninstall PowerChute so I could try to reinstall it to get managed PC shutdown to work again?
Than you for your answer!

Just re-run the install program you used in the first place.
