We have several models of APC ups for our small jobsite racks. We mobilize and demobilize these sites frequently. It seems that some UPSes use different part # serial cables than others. over time we've mixed all these up. DO you have a list of part #'s for these cables and which models they work with?
Is it possible that if we plug the wrong cable in to a UPS that it will bring the server down intermittently? Or is this a battery issue?

you should not connect an incorrect serial cable to a UPS if you arent sure if it is the correct UPS. depending on the cable/UPS combo, it may cause an issue or it may not.
For a general idea, any single phase Smart UPS beginning with SU or SUA, or Symmetra LX, or any non-microlink UPS uses a 940-0024 or 940-1524. Microlink UPSs, utilize 940-0025 or 940-1525.
This knowledgebase has some information too -> http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3061
That is for configuring an NMC and usually indicates what products use what configuration cable.
i hope that helps.
